Arena grandstand seating for Europa opening

The Arena Group supplied temporary grandstand seating for the opening in front of a host of VIPs - including the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and Minister for Sport and the Olympics, Hugh Robertson - of London's Europa Centre on 6 March.

The event saw hundreds of youth athletes showcasing their talents to the Mayor, the Minister and more than 200 other VIPs.

The Europa Gym Club (Europa) was formed in 1992 and was previously based on an industrial estate in Erith.

The new centre, based in Maiden Lane, Crayford, is a state-of-the art multipurpose sporting facility to be used by the local community for gymnastics, weightlifting and boxing.

It will also be used as the Olympic and Paralympic volleyball squad's training base throughout the summer of 2012.

Dave Withey, sales director at Arena Seating, said: "Europa is a fantastic venue which demonstrates the legacy the Olympics Games will leave this local community.

"The fact that it is being used for the Olympic Volleyball squads for training is testament to the quality of the newly-relocated centre.

"We're pleased to be involved and show support to both the local sports teams and athletes and the Olympic squads ahead of our busy summer at major sporting events."
